About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and reliable Farm Assistant to join our team for the peak calving period from 1 August through to 30 September. This role is ideal for someone on a Working Holiday Visa who wants to experience New Zealand dairy farming while working alongside an experienced team.
You’ll be involved in a wide range of day-to-day farm duties, with a strong focus on calving and caring for newborn calves.
Key Responsibilities
● Assisting with calving and monitoring cows.
● Feeding and caring for newborn calves.
● Milking cows as part of the farm roster.
● Shifting stock and setting up paddocks.
● Cleaning calf sheds and maintaining high hygiene standards.
● General farm maintenance
● Operating farm vehicles and equipment (training provided where appropriate).
● Following farm procedures.
● Maintaining a high standard of animal welfare and health and safety.
What We’re Looking For:
● A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
● Reliable, honest, and hardworking.
● Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
● Comfortable working early mornings and flexible hours during calving.
● Able to work well both independently and as part of a team.
● Previous farming experience is an advantage but not essential.
