OB Group has four Dairy farms, three at Sandtoft Bulls where these roles will be based, just 15 minutes from Marton in the Rangitikei region.
Each Farm milks between 800-1000 Friesian X cows at peak through 60 bail Rotary sheds and has 4 staff. These are well-resourced farming businesses set on flat to rolling sand country with excellent laneways and pivot irrigators across the properties.
THE OPPORTUNITY…
We require experienced farm staff to add to the experienced Farm teams in all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the dairy farm.
You may be at 2IC level, or close to stepping into Shed or Herd manager for this farm role. Experience is great, but the right attitude to farm work is a must i.e. for the right person we can support getting them up to speed.
All applicants must be NZ citizens and physically in New Zealand or have the appropriate current Visa to work in NZ.
A BIT ABOUT YOU…
To be successful in this role you will have a good understanding of the workings of a dairy farm. You will also bring the below skills:
· Right attitude, reliability, passionate about farming and want to be a part of a team.
· Good communication.
· Preference given to those with a minimum of 5 Years experience, with a good understanding of pasture & feed management, experience in calf rearing, shed management, and hygiene standards, use of two-wheel motor bike, efficient on tractors and feed out wagons.
· Animal health/herd experience.
· Record keeping and ability to utilise technologies and software (Protrack, Minda) would be an advantage
· Full current car licence
· Physically fit and positively contribute to team.
· Honesty, integrity, and good work ethics.
A Spring calving operation, milking between 850 – 950 Friesian cows at peak through a 60 bail Rotary shed. The Farm is set on flat to rolling sand country with sand laneways, feed pad, and in-shed feeding and pivot irrigators across the property.
