We're on the hunt for a motivated and reliable Calf Rearer to join our team from 20 July 2026 through to Mid/End September there can be further work for the rest of the season relief milking for the right person.
We are located just 5 minutes from Palmerston North.

Roster Can be flexible and also Hours somewhat flexable for the right canditate
Previous years hours have been (these do fluctuate throughout calving)
5.00am - 8.30am
1.30pm - 2.30pm (Helping with colostrums)
3.30pm -5pm
We rear approximately 160 replacement heifer calves from birth through to weaning.
This role could be a lead calf rearer or a junior calf rearer dependent on experience you will have support from experienced staff members.
Our calf system is straightforward and well set up:
- All calves receive Gold colostrum as their first feed via tube feeding. (Including Bobbie calves)
- Bobbies are kept separate using a marking system to ensure they are 4 days old before going on the truck.
- Hay, Meal, Optiguard and fresh water all available in their pens and are checked/refreshed/topped up daily for replacements.
- When ready replacements will be transitioned to outside and on calfaterias driven by 4X4's not bikes.
HYGIENE is super important to us! we have plenty of hot water for cleaning
We are looking for someone who has
- Good common sense and a genuine care for animal welfare
- Reliable and organized
- Able to work independently while communicating well with the team
- Previous calf rearing experience is an advantage, but attitude and willingness to learn are just as important.
