Assistant Farm Manager Needed in Otautau (REC-2IC-KV)

We have a job for an experienced farm worker (2+ years) for an Assistant Manager position on a farm in the Otautau area. This is for a 320-cow farm, milking through a 30 Aside Herringbone shed.

You'll have a range of responsibilities including the day-to-day management support including:

• Milking
• Shed Management
• Animal Husbandry and Production
• Animal Health Monitoring, Management and Treatment
• Pasture and fodder Management
• Maintenance of Shed, Equipment and Machinery
• Know and meet regulatory rules & requirements
• Breeding, Calving and Calf rearing Management
• Cattle transportation
• Staff Management
• and other general farm duties.

Weekly hours are a minimum of 50 and a maximum of 55. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, any hours worked beyond the agreed maximum in a fortnightly pay period will be paid at your regular hourly rate.

The schedule may vary; Roster changes throughout the year. During spring and autumn calving (winter milking), it is 6 days on, 1 day off. For the rest of the year, it alternates between 7 days on, 1 day off, and 4 days on, 2 days off.

Salary ranges from $85,000 - $100,000 per annum, subject to experience.

Candidates must have previous dairy farming experience and are required to provide good related references.
