On-Farm Mechanic – Hastings
We are seeking a skilled and motivated diesel mechanic to join our clients dairy farming operation in Hastings. This position is for someone ideally with experience in farm machinery, general maintenance, or mechanical repairs.
About the Role
As our clients on-farm mechanic, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the smooth operation of all farm machinery and equipment. You’ll be expected to work independently, manage your time efficiently, and coordinate closely with the farm manager. Your ability to service, maintain, diagnose and repair faults quickly and effectively will be essential.
What We’re Looking For
You will be:
· Self-motivated and reliable
· A strong time manager with the ability to prioritise tasks
· Skilled in diagnosing faults, carrying out servicing, and completing repairs
· Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
What You’ll Need
· At least 3 years of experience servicing machinery, ideally farming equipment and vehicles
· A full, non-restricted driver licence (minimum Class 1)
· Trade Certification as a Diesel Mechanic
· Practical knowledge of welding, engineering, and painting
· A strong focus on health and safety in the workplace
Key Responsibilities
· Service and maintain all farm vehicles, pumps, and machinery – including irrigation systems and plant equipment
· Follow and manage the farm’s maintenance schedule
· Maintain accurate service records for all equipment and hours worked
· Support the farm team with general duties as needed
· Assist with occasional maintenance of farm houses and buildings
What’s on Offer
· Drive-in position/ Potential on-farm 3-BR house
· Vehicle and diesel provided for work purposes
· Monday to Friday 40 hours per week work schedule
· $40+ per hour depending on experience
