Entry Level Dairy Assistant

We are looking for an entry level dairy farm assistant to join our team.

We are a small team milking 440 cows on a 145-hectare farm with modern rotary dairy, 5 minute’s drive from Featherston, 15minutes from Greytown & Martinborough. You will be working alongside us and a herd manager. 

This position would ideally be suited to a school/ university leaver but could be negotiated to suit someone looking to change careers. Ideally you will have had some prior exposure to dairy farming and be prepared to take part in all farm activities. 

Daily duties will include but not be limited to:

·        Milking cows

·        Assisting to feed Calves

·        Moving Break fences

·        Moving Irrigation and Effluent systems

·        Weed control

·        Assisting with general repairs and maintenance

We can offer some flexibility in hours worked to suit other life commitments; however, you will be required to work on a fortnightly roster including working every 2nd weekend. We offer a 10 on 4 off or 6on 1 off, 4 on 3 off roster.  This will be a permanent, full-time role with an above average hourly rate for someone that is the right fit for our small team. Ongoing training will be provided on and off farm. This is a drive-in role, no accommodation is available on farm.

·        Be able to ride a 4-wheel motorbike

·        Hold a valid driver’s license

You will need to pass a pre-employment drug test, as well as agree to our ongoing drug and alcohol testing policy. You will need to provide 2 contactable references of a previous employer and/or character references for a school leaver.

Applicants should possess sound basic knowledge of English, Mathematics, Science and Technology. As this will be highly beneficial in this role.
