Herd Manager – Dairy Farm (Split Calving)

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Herd Manager to join our team on a progressive dairy farm.

The Farm:

    •    660 cows, split calving system

    •    165ha effective milking platform

    •    Located Matamata, Waikato

    •    Well-established pasture-based system with feed pad

    •    Technology-driven operation with a focus on efficiency and performance

The Role:

You will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day management of the herd and farm operations, working closely with the farm owner/manager. This is a hands-on role suited to someone passionate about dairy farming and animal care.

Key Responsibilities:

    •    Milking and shed management

    •    Animal health and welfare

    •    Pasture management and feed allocation

    •    Mating and calving management

    •    Record keeping and farm technology use

    •    General farm duties and maintenance

What We’re Looking For:

    •    Proven experience in a similar role

    •    Strong understanding of the New Zealand pasture-based system

    •    Good stockmanship and attention to detail

    •    Confident using farm technology (e.g. herd management software, drafting systems)

    •    Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    •    Positive attitude and strong work ethic

    •    Must be a New Zealand resident
