We are looking for an entry level dairy farm assistant to join our team. We are a small team milking 440 cows on a 145-hectare farm with modern rotary dairy, 5 minute’s drive from Featherston, 15minutes from Greytown & Martinborough. This position would ideally be suited to a school/ university leaver but could be negotiated to suit someone looking to change careers. Ideally you will have had some prior exposure to dairy farming and be prepared to take part in all farm activities.  Daily duties will include but not be limited to: ·        Milking cows ·        Assisting to feed Calves ·        Moving Break fences ·        Moving Irrigation and Effluent systems ·        Weed control ·        Assisting with general repairs and maintenance   We can offer some flexibility in hours worked to suit other life commitments; however, you will be required to work on a fortnightly roster including working every 2nd weekend. We require a Herd Manager in Tirohanga for this 700 cow farm on 280 hectares.  WE run a 54 bale rotary shed. You must have a minimum of 2 years experience.  Your duties include but are not limited to milking cows, solving milk quality issues, shed hygiene, Animal Health, Keeping animal health records up to date, effluent management and feeding. The ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision and can supervise and train other staff.  Looks for opportunites to work more effectively and efficiently to improve the business. Roster 11 on 3 off. Accommodation is one bedroom cottage Minimum 30 hours guaranteed. No dogs on farm You must have a clear criminal record.
