We have a job for an experienced farm worker (2+ years) for a Herd Manager position on a farm in the Howard area. This is for a 640 cow farm, 1 hr and 20 minutes from Nelson, milking through an 50 Bail Rotary shed.  You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: Milking and monitoring milk quality, training junior staff, stock handling and feeding (feed mgt), fencing, weed control, calving, calf rearing, shed maintenance & preparation, tractor operation for feeding out, baling, mowing and silage monitoring, recording and maintaining animal health and other general farm duties. Weekly hours are a minimum of 35 and a maximum of 45. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, should you work beyond the agreed maximum hours in a fortnightly pay period , you will be paid the agreed overtime hourly rate beyond the maximum hours. Previous dairy farming experience is preferred but not required for this role.
