Position available for Farm worker/Assistant on 240 cow Dairy Farm in Inglewood. Duties include milking, calf rearing and general farm duties. Some experience preferred. Full Licence required. Drive in position or house available.

Luscombe Farm Partnership is requiring a Relief Milker / Calf Rearer. The calf rearing position will commence mid July through to approximately mid September where you will be required to work with one other person and alone on some occasions.  We will be rearing around 130 heifer calves as well as beef calves. Hours will be discussed with the successful applicant. The relief milking position will be on an on-call basis and will be an ongoing position on farm milking 580 cows in a 60 bale rotary shed.   You must be reliable and fit and able to start work in July.  Must have a NZ working Visa and reside in NZ.

Milking: Assists in efficient and hygienic milking routine. Follows procedure to produce high quality milk. Carries out milk harvesting tasks as directed and is developing correct skills to milk efficiently and safely. • Helps set up dairy prior to milking and on time. • Milks cows efficiently and safely, as directed. • Uses backing gate well. • Teat sprays well. • Marks cows well. Understands factors that affect milk quality, and the reasons for regulations around milk quality safety. • Understands the cost and implications of grading milk and high somatic cell counts. • Helps manage ‘dirty cows’. • Implements dairy hygiene requirements.
