Milking 500 cross breed cows through a modern 44 Bail Rotary Shed, with Protrack Drafting and in-shed feed system, located 5 minutes from Eltham. You will be required to undertake general farm duties including milking, dairy hygiene, irrigation management, weed control, animal health and general maintenance. You must be honest, reliable and have excellent time management skills. The ability to work well by yourself and in a team environment is a must. Due to unforeseen family circumstances with our existing manager who needs to leave asap, we are looking for a herd manager for our dairy farm near Waverley.  The shed is 36 aside herringbone shed with automatic cup removers and in-shed feed system. Our operation includes 2 dairy farms and a runoff block in-between them.  We run it as one, with everyone helping each other out wherever required.  The successful applicant will be managing the herd on this farm, while working with the manager on our other dairy farm, particularly throughout calvings (we calve Autumn and Spring) - all calves born are reared.  The applicant will also possess the ability to work alone, unsupervised as required, and have sound knowledge of Minda, Fonterra Dairy Diary App, and AfiMilk collars, as well as other key skills of a herd manager. We are seeking a team member to help with day to day runnings - milking 14 bale herringbone (soon to be moving into a new 40 bale rotary- waiting for sign off) setting breaks, bringing in cows and calves and helping with calf rearing. You will be joining a supportive team environment consisting of a herd manager along side another farm assistant, on a roster system.  Must be capable of milking on your own if necessary.   Applicant MUST be residing in and eligible to work in New Zealand.
