We milk 540 cows through a 50-bale rotary fitted with arcs, in-bail teat spray, auto wash, in-shed feeding, cow manager and Waikato auto-drafting  First-calving heifers are milked once a day year-round, reducing afternoon milking to 400 cows. Our cows are wintered in a barn, and all young stock are wintered on our run off. We have a position available for a Dairy Farm Assistant on a 1,500-cow farm in the Balfour area. The farm is located approximately 45 minutes from Gore and operates two Herringbone milking sheds. Previous experience is preferred but not required for this role. You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: - Milking twice a day - shifting cows and feeding  - fencing, weed control - calving, calf rearing - shed cleaning and setup - identifying and alerting managers to sick cows - Setting fences - and other general farm duties. Weekly hours are a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 50. A 60 bail rotary dairy shed for milking with in-shed feeding, auto drafting, auto cup remover with cow collar to aid with health monitoring and mating.  To be considered for the role you must have a strong background on all aspect of day to day running of the operation and a solid work ethics.
