We are looking for a reliable and hardworking dairy farm assistant or herd manager to join our team in Ikawai, South Canterbury 🐄. We peak milk 640 cows through a 60 bail rotary with ACRs and an Allflex drafting gate. The farm is flat and is well set up with two centre pivots and K-line irrigation. We are looking for a Farm Assistant We are based on the Kaikoura Flat, a short 5 minute drive from Kaikoura township. We milk 950 cows through a 60 bail rotary, with twice a day milking for most of the year. The milking shed has recent technology including, Protrack, ACR’s, automatic teat spray, SCC and milk monitoring capabilities. We are targeting a driven individual that wants to develop themselves, with support of our experienced farm management team. Key aspects- ·        All aspects of milk harvesting and cleaning in the shed ·        Able to use technology such as halter ·        Identifying sick or lame cows ·        Safe use of equipment such as tractor feed out wagons ·        Control of weeds and farm maintenance The role comes with a 5 and 2 roster, and a competitive salary. Job will Involve. we have 480 cows to calved end of July to October 2026. After calving relief milking available for the right person. + Rearing approximately 120 heifer calves/45 beef calves and 10 bulls + Feeding bobby calves until 4 days old  + Tube feeding if newborn calves are not drinking from the feeding bottle  + Training calves for the feeders  + Identify any calves not drinking milk and feeding them  + Report any problem of calves and machinery  + Help for milking when other staff has day off  you should have WHV to start the job.  PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE VISA TO WORK IN NEW ZEALAND
