The Role We are looking for a strong Farm Assistant to join our team based in Dunsandel which is an excellent location close to Christchurch. You will be assisting with leading a team and milking 850 cows. This will be on a rotating roster of 6 days on and 2 days off.  You will be a team player, have strong pasture management knowledge and a genuine desire to achieve the farms goals. The main responsibilities of this role include… Animal Care – feeding, milking, health checks, seasonal tasks (calving, mating). Farm Operations – moving stock, fencing, irrigation, operating machinery. Maintenance – repairs to fences, water systems, vehicles, and sheds. Compliance & Environment – follow health & safety, effluent, and biosecurity rules. General Support – assist manager, support contractors, tidy and prepare work areas. We have had a position open up for a general handy man doing all sorts of dairy related jobs on our farms. Most jobs are project based and are to improve the running and efficiency of our farms.  This job would suit someone who has expertise in different areas and is happy to do different jobs depending on what is required. Some of the work will be urgent depending on the time of year.  These jobs would include some or all of the following: Tractor and digger operation, lime track capping/repairs, drainage, shifting stock, irrigation development/shifting and repairs, cultivating, drilling, fencing, painting, landscaping, building, picking up rubbish, spraying.  A work vehicle is supplied as jobs will be at different locations.  Our ideal applicant: Would be a self starter and self motivated.
