We are seeking a someone skilled and proficient in the day to day running of dairy farms to join our team We are a split calving farm, with a planned move to all autumn calving in the next year or two Milking 800 cows through an automated 70 bale rotary with Cow Manager Must have proven track record in communication, attention to detail, milk quality and animal health Ability to operate machinery and load/operate mixer wagon on feed pad is essential. Due to unforseen circumstances, we require a farm assistant to join us on our farm in Okoroire to assist the milking of 400 cows through a 38 bail rotary.  We are 50/50 Sharemilkers on a family farm. You will need to be able to take instructions from our 2IC.  We are looking for someone who has a real interest in farming and someone who can get to the shed on time.  You would need to be confident on a 2 wheel motorbike and some tractor experience would be an advantage.  You would have to have good stockmanship, a calm nature, honest and reliable.  Your duties are, but not limited to:  milking cows, feeding cows, animal health, effluent.  You need to understand health, safety and wellbeing.   You must have a minimum of 6 months dairy farming experience or a L2 or higher qualification in Agriculture. Milking : Assist with the milking of 650 jersey cross cows through a 36 aside herringbone shed Calf Rearing:  Feeding and monitoring the health of 250+ calves, and preserving a clean and healthy                                  environment Farm maintenance ; including the up-keep of machinary, fences, waterlines and weed control Stock management : Moving and drafting stock, and setting up of break fences. Machinary Operation : Operating 2 and 4 wheel bikes, and Tractors for the purpose of general farm tasks Health and Safety : Adhere to farm safety protocols, and environmental guidelines
