Located 15 mins to Morrinsville & 15 mins to Matamata, the farm is very centrally located.  Our system 5, with feed pad, dairy unit milks 650 jersey cows through a 50 bale rotary on flat to rolling land.  We are seeking a Farm Assistant to join our team who is passionate about farming and keen to learn & progress, with good overall farming experience including tractor work.  Excellent communication and the ability to work together in a team are a must. Dairy Herd Manager We are seeking a motivated and reliable Farm Assistant to join our dairy farming operation located in the Morrinsville, Waikato region, 450-470 cows on 34 ahbs with feed pad.  This is a permanent full-time position offering a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week. Weekend work and rostered duties are required as part of normal dairy farming operations.   About the Role The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day management of the dairy herd and general farm operations while working closely with farm management. This role is based on a hilly dairy farm, so applicants must be comfortable working on steep and uneven terrain in varying weather conditions. Experience handling stock on hill country and maintaining pasture on rolling land will be an advantage. We are seeking to employ a single Farm Assistant able to start at the end of July 2026. The position is to assist with general farm work including milkings, stock work, tractor driving, weed control and effluent management.  The applicant must be willing to learn and develop their own farming skills with the view to be a herd manager in the future. The farm operates with 3-herds as there are both spring and autumn calving cows. The cowshed is a 50-bale herringbone. 190 replacements are reared annually and farmed on the farm. It is operated as a System-3 dairy with maize & grass silage fed on a fed pad together with PKE and vegetable waste. A knowledge of dairy production systems is preferred. The applicant must have a valid drivers licence. The current team includes an Irishman, New Zealanders and a Filipino.
