We are looking for a Herd Manager who is excited about the dairy industry and keen to further their career. Blackford Farming is an established family business.  The farm is 303ha, un-irrigated, with a 60 bail rotary shed, milking 1000 cows. The shed is modern, its fitted with ACR’s, auto teat sprayer, Protrac and Herd-i.  We have Halter cow collars and we have a composting shed that holds 300 cows. We run automatic calf feeders, we rear 300 calves.  All cows are wintered off farm at grazing blocks.  A minimum of 2 years experience within NZ dairy farming is preferred.  The role requires you to have a good understanding of cowshed practice, efficient milking skills, be able to treat animal health issues and record them, be able to treat lame cows, monitor and record pasture management.
