We are looking for a motivated, honest and reliable Herd Manager to join our team. We milk twice a day 970 cows through a 60 bale automated rotary. Your duties will include setting up the shed and bringing cows in for milking, assisting with milking, identifying cows for health problems, moving break fences, assist in calving cows, basic pasture management and willing to learn more have great stock sense, assist in treating lame cows and detecting mastitis and other farm jobs. Experience in dairy farming required. Approximately 10 minutes from Methven township and 15 mins from Ashburton.  BLACKFORD FARMING -RED SHED. Due to a staff member moving overseas , an exciting opportunity has become available on our dairy farm, milking 1035 cows through a 60 bale fully automated rotary shed. Our non irrigated farm has modern facilities, machinery and equipment. We have a wintering barn to house 270 cows  , Halter collars and automatic calf feeders.  The successful candidate will join our vibrant team of 5 full time staff and work on a 6 on 2 off roster. 2 years Previous experience on a NZ dairy farm is essential, You must have a can do attitude and you must be honest and reliable , work well in a team but also work well alone and be a good communicator. We are a drug free and smoke free workplace. Drug testing may be required. A full NZ driving licence is required.
