We are looking for a motivated, honest and reliable Herd Manager to join our team. We milk twice a day 970 cows through a 60 bale automated rotary. Your duties will include setting up the shed and bringing cows in for milking, assisting with milking, identifying cows for health problems, moving break fences, assist in calving cows, basic pasture management and willing to learn more have great stock sense, assist in treating lame cows and detecting mastitis and other farm jobs.
Experience in dairy farming required.
Approximately 10 minutes from Methven township and 15 mins from Ashburton. Our current roster is 6 on 2 off all year round
To be eligible, you must be already living in New Zealand. Accommodation can be provided.
To be considered you must
- Provide a current CV
- Have at least 1 year experience working on a New Zealand Dairy farm Must provide verifiable references of previous employment history
- Be physically fit
- Must hold a clean Full drivers license
- Confident riding 2-wheel motorbike
- Confident driving and operating tractors and machinery
- Work well with others and helping to build a positive farm team culture.
- Be able to follow the farm’s health, safety and wellbeing policies.
- Be competent in Identifying hazards, understanding safety procedures, and demonstrating safe on-farm work practices.
- Be able to pass a drug test
- Be able to comply with the farms non-smoking policy
