We are looking for a Farm Assistant We are based on the Kaikoura Flat, a short 5 minute drive from Kaikoura township. We milk 950 cows through a 60 bail rotary, with twice a day milking for most of the year. The milking shed has recent technology including, Protrack, ACR’s, automatic teat spray, SCC and milk monitoring capabilities. We are targeting a driven individual that wants to develop themselves, with support of our experienced farm management team. Key aspects- ·        All aspects of milk harvesting and cleaning in the shed ·        Able to use technology such as halter ·        Identifying sick or lame cows ·        Safe use of equipment such as tractor feed out wagons ·        Control of weeds and farm maintenance The role comes with a 5 and 2 roster, and a competitive salary. Top 400 cows twice a day, the rest once a day morning only, everything once a day March to end of May. We have a system that allows for not getting cows in, they walk themselves to milking while the coffees being drunk. Calves are grazed off farm from January till they return in May the following year as in calf. All ground work is done in house so plenty of tractor work available. We are looking for a permanent staff member to jump aboard our team once our Scottsman's visa has run out in November. Preferably chasing a character that knows how to jump into battle when the busy time is on. Must have a can do attitude and be willing to get their hands dirty, be able to laugh and have a genuine interest in dairy farming. 3 bedroom house with log burner. Firewood available on farm.
