Farm Assistant or Herd Manager role - 930 cows Our business is expanding and we are looking for a Farm Assistant or Herd Manager to join our existing team in Clydevale/Rongahere. This role will be on our 930 cow unit, which will run alongside the neighboring 300 cow farm we have just purchased. Due to unforeseen circumstances we are looking for someone to join us on our Dairy Farm near Morrinsville. We are milking 300 crossbred cows on 107ha 15 minutes North of Morrinsville. We have a brand new 30 aside herringbone cowshed with automatic cup removers and auto yard wash. There is a tidy 3 bedroom home available. The farm is grass based with grass and grass silage as the main feeds so this is a great place to learn excellent pasture management. We do about 110,000kgMS per year and typically go OAD in January each year. We aim for best practice in every area especially cow health, incalf rates, SCC and youngstock rearing. We rear ~70 replacement calves and they stay on farm until 1st May. This is a great opportunity to work with the farm owners and set yourself up for a great career in dairying. We’re on the lookout for a motivated Dairy Farm Assistant to join our friendly team on a 650 and 550-cow farm. Experience is preferred but not required for this role.  We milk through a 50-bail rotary shed and 40 AS Herringbone shed and offer a wide variety of daily tasks to keep you learning and engaged, including: Milking (twice a day) Shifting cows & feeding out Fencing & general maintenance Weed control Calving & calf rearing Shed cleaning & setup Spotting sick cows & alerting the manager and other general farm duties Weekly hours are a minimum of 35 and a maximum of 50. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, any hours worked beyond the agreed maximum in a fortnightly pay period will be paid   at the agreed overtime rate.
