Join Our Team as a Casual Calf Rearer – Dairy Farm Opportunity We are looking for a reliable, hardworking, and animal-loving person to join our team as a Casual Calf Rearer on our dairy farm near Rolleston. Key Responsibilities: PM calf feeding Monitoring calf health and wellbeing Cleaning and maintaining calf sheds and feeding equipment Assisting with general calf rearing tasks as required Following farm health and safety procedures Position Details: Casual position Drive-in role Farm located approximately 10 km from Rolleston Flexible hours during the calf rearing season Pay rate dependent on experience and skills Previous calf rearing experience is preferred, but training can be provided for the right applicant We are looking for someone who is dependable, has a positive attitude, and enjoys working with animals in a farm environment.

This is drive in position available from 20th July till late September. Must have drivers license  Farm is 17miniutes from Ashburton town and 15 minutes from methven.  Rearing 280 replacement calves . Must be physically fit . No experience necessary training provided on farm. 

Due to last seasons calf rearer now rearing her own baby we now require a new calf rearer on our 950 cow dairy farm in Lauriston (Thompsons Track) which is 20min from Ashburton and 15min to Rakaia and Methven. This is a drive in position as there is no accommodation available. It will be for a fixed term period from Mid July 2026 to October 2026, it will be for approx. 40hrs per week and the roster can be discussed at the interview. Experience is a help but not essential as full training and support of our system will be given. We will be rearing 300 heifers and also feeding in excess of 400-500 Friesian bulls and Herefords to 4 days old. We have an amazing setup on farm for rearing calves with 24 bays of calf sheds only 50m from the cowshed. All milk is pumped using a flow meter for accuracy. we are looking for a reliable calf Rearer to join our team for the up coming calving season, some experience would be ideal as you will be working alone most of time, jobs would include tubing new born's ,teaching to feed on feeders, administering medication to any sick ones, we are an adlib farm so keeping feeding barrels and trophs clean to insure we dont get scours in the pens. Some extra work on farm may be available to make up hours at the start, that can be discussed at the interview. We can offer temporary accommodation just over calving if needed. We are looking for some help on our 680-cow dairy farm, 10 minutes West of Dunsandel. The role is full time during calving season with sole responsibility for rearing 180 heifer replacement calves. We have a calf trailer to get milk from the shed to the calf sheds; this has a motor and pumps milk into calf feeders so no bucketing.  Option one is just to help during calving with the calves, so from the middle of July to mid/late September and we hire a relief milker separately. Option two is to help on the farm outside of feeding calves and the job will change to dairy farm assistant role from late July through to early February. This would include milking cows in our 50 bale rotary with cup removers. Getting cows in, putting up fences, spraying weeds and shifting k-line irrigation.  The job comes with a modern brick house which will be partially furnished.  Applicants must have a current work visa for New Zealand.

We are looking for a calf rearer to come and join our team of 3. This role will have sole charge of rearing 150 heifer replacements, training is provided. There would also be the option to help with milking in the mornings.  We milk 610 cows through a 54-bale rotary with protrack with smaXtec animal monitoring. The roster is 6 days on and 2 days off, this could be negotiable. Position is from mid-late July through to mid-late September.
