We currently have the opportunity to invite a new team member into our team as an assistant herd manager / 2ic. The roll requires an enthusiastic attitude, with the skills to work as a team and communicate well with fellow staff and employer. Expectations for the roll include: knowledge of animal health (mastitis detection + treatment, assisting down cows, assisting calving cows etc) Heat detection for mating  Record keeping for animal treatments and monthly hygiene checks Effluent management  Some pasture management skills  Safe and confident Tractor operations  Two and four wheel farm bike experience General maintenance skills (fences, water leaks etc) The Farm operates on 250ha milking 540 cows through a modern 40 per side shed with Automatic cup removers and in shed feeding. 

We are currently looking for an Assistant Manager to join our Sheep Milking Farm. This year we plan to milk 850 ewes and carry 150 Beef Cattle. We are a busy farm located minutes from Te Awamutu with lots of variety. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking to try out the sheep dairy industry. The following skills are required: • A strong understanding of pasture management and feed budgeting skills • Experience in dairy milking methods, milking processes and shed/plant hygiene standards • Practical experience in fencing, weed spraying, effluent/irrigator use • Feeding out • Handling animals • Knowledge in animal welfare • Strong experience with farm machinery including motorbikes, tractors, feed out wagons or farm utility vehicles and ability to conduct farm maintenance including mowing • Ability to keep accurate records • Excellent communication and management skills • Minimum of 3 years dairy farm experience The key tasks for the role...
