Whitehall Farm & Pastoral is seeking a capable, motivated contract milker for a newly purchased dairy farm at Whakamaru.
This is an opportunity to lead day-to-day operations and work alongside us to establish a productive, well-run farm from our first season.
The operation includes:
277 hectares, milking 800 crossbred cows, with a new herd coming onto the farm.
50-bale rotary with new ACRs, protrack and in-shed feeding to be installed.
System 3.5, targeting 350,000 kgMS in our first season of ownership.
Summer and winter crops as part of the farm’s feed programme.
An attached 120-hectare dairy support block, negotiable for inclusion in the contract or operation under a separate arrangement.
Team and accommodation
A team comprising the contract milker plus three full-time staff is required.
The property has good, tidy houses, two with swimming pools and a house for each staff member.

Accurate, timely reporting, including weekly pasture walks, feed information, stock records and animal health records, using our reporting systems.
Consistent pasture and feed management, achieving agreed grazing residuals and planning supplement orders early so feed does not run out.
High standards of animal care, with daily observation, prompt treatment and early escalation of health or welfare concerns.
Early, honest communication, raising issues while there is still time to act and following agreed actions through to completion.
Pride in the whole operation, keeping the dairy, machinery, housing and farm tidy, maintaining equipment and meeting health, safety and effluent requirements.
We’re looking for someone who leads their team well, gets the fundamentals right every day and takes ownership of results.
You’ll work directly with our GM, Operations team and wider whitehall team, with a shared focus on cow performance, pasture utilisation and building a successful long-term working relationship.
