We require a highly motivated contract milker to assist us in the running of our family based dairy operation situated on the taieri plains near to the dunedin airport. Someone keen to upskill themselves in dairy farming practice, to learn and grow in their knowledge and enjoyment of farming.
Milking 360 peak cows, with no wintering on dairy platform and young stock also grazed off.
Minimal calf rearing requirements.
Tractor, mower and feed out equipment provided. Contract milker requires bikes and some equipment for the day to day running and farm maintenance required. One full time staff member is a non negotiable requirement plus relief staff as required.
This is a small herd but we have consistently produced well for the farm size averaging 170,000kgms over the past 5 seasons.
A great dairy shed setup with a 46 bale rotary shed with acrs and protrack for operator ease, making this a very time efficient shed keeping stock and staff happy. We have MSD SenseHub collars on the herd for animal health monitoring which is a great tool for the farm operator.
Inshed feeding with barley and molasses fed all season plus mag/calcium/trace elemement supplements.
We are a family based operation with a long history in dairy farming, taking pride in our farm and stock.
We have a strong history of milk excellence and grade free status, and will only consider applicants that share the same values in stockmanship and quality of work.
Key requirements are time spent in farm management or previous contract milking experience.
We are passionate about the wellbeing of our stock, therefore good stockmanship and care are a key focus for us. References would need to reflect good stockmanship.
