Block Manager : Dairy Support & Drystock - Te Aroha/Paeroa

550 ha   I    Sheep, Beef, Dairy Grazers and Calves 

Due to continued growth within the business and the promotion of the current Block Manager, an exciting opportunity has become available for someone ready to take ownership of a progressive 550ha dairy support and drystock unit. This internal progression reflects a business that values its people, supports development, and provides genuine opportunities to grow.

The operation has excellent scale and variety, running approximately 500 dairy heifers and calves, including R1 and R2 stock that return to the dairy farms in-calf.  The property also carries around 400 beef steers and bulls, alongside a 600-head sheep enterprise. It is a practical, performance-focused farming system with a clear direction and a commitment to continually improving how it operates.

Having recently implemented Halter across the cattle system, the farm is embracing technology that is changing the way livestock are managed.  This is an excellent opportunity to join a business that is committed to innovation, continuous improvement, while gaining hands-on experience with one of the industry's leading farming technologies.

As Block Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the unit, including:

• Stock performance and livestock management
• Feed planning and pasture utilisation
• Animal health and welfare
• Maintaining an organised, consistent, and well-run farming system
• Supporting the successful implementation and ongoing use of Halter

The owner remains closely involved in the business and lives on-farm, providing support and guidance when required.  They will continue to manage the larger strategic decisions, including stock trading, fertiliser planning, and capital investment.  However, you will be trusted to lead the daily operation of the block and make practical decisions that keep the system performing well.

This position would suit an experienced stockperson who takes pride in running a tidy, well-managed operation and is ready to step into greater responsibility.  You may be coming from a dairy background and looking for a change, or have experience in beef finishing or drystock farming.  Most importantly, you will be practical, dependable, confident working independently, and comfortable taking ownership of your area.

Located between Te Aroha and Paeroa, the farm offers a single-person accommodation on-farm. Assistance with securing suitable off-farm accommodation may also be available for the right applicant.
