Job Description

We are on the hunt for a new Farm Assistant to join our team and become part of our farming journey.

 

At Redwood Park we are a family-owned dairy property that is on a mission to become an efficient, profitable and enjoyable business. We’re searching for a farm assistant who is as passionate about growth and progression as we are.

 

What Do We Do?

 

We milk 350 cows and focus on running an efficient, tidy and progressive farming operation.

Animal care, pasture management and good systems are at the core of what we do. Our farm operates with Halter technology and a well-maintained herringbone shed with automatic cup removers to help make day-to-day farming smoother and more efficient.

We are a close-knit team that values honesty, communication, reliability and taking pride in the farm we operate.

 

The Role:

As our farm assistant you will be the hands on for day-to-day operations helping to ensure best practices are met.

 You will work closely with the manager to assist with key decisions: 

·   Milking to produce the finest milk.

·   Livestock management meeting BCS targets with animal health minimized

·   Pasture and feed management ensuring fed requirements are met and APC targets

·   Dairy hygiene requirements met

·   General farm maintenance

·   Monitor and analyze cow behaviors, utilize halter collar data

 

Who You Are:

Someone with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Reliable, punctual and willing to learn.

Able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Passionate about dairy farming and animal care.

Someone who takes pride in their work and communicates well.

Previous dairy farming experience is preferred but not essential for the right person.

This position is available immediately and will run through until April 2027.

The role is ideal for someone looking for a seasonal farming opportunity, gaining further dairy experience, returning to the industry, or those between longer-term positions. With spring, mating, calf rearing and summer management all included, the successful applicant will gain exposure to a wide range of farming activities throughout the season.
