Farm Assistant

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with milking cows according to the farm’s milking procedures and hygiene standards.
• Monitor the health, condition, and behaviour of cows and report any illness, injury, lameness, or unusual behaviour.
• Assist with feeding cows, calves, and other livestock.
• Support calf rearing, including feeding, cleaning pens, monitoring health, and moving calves when required.
• Clean and maintain the milking shed, yards, animal housing, feeding areas, and farm facilities.
• Assist with animal health procedures, including vaccinations, treatments, drafting, weighing, and record keeping, under supervision.
• Assist with mating, calving, drying-off, and other seasonal farm activities.
• Operate farm vehicles, machinery, and equipment safely, including tractors, quad bikes, side-by-side vehicles, and feeding equipment, where authorised.
• Check fences, gates, water troughs, irrigation systems, and farm infrastructure.
• Carry out general maintenance, including fencing, weed control, cleaning, repairs, and property upkeep.
• Follow all farm biosecurity, food safety, environmental, and animal welfare requirements.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures and immediately report hazards, incidents, injuries, or equipment damage.
• Work early mornings, weekends, public holidays, split shifts, and additional hours during busy periods when reasonably required.
• Perform any other reasonable farm-related duties requested by the Farm Manager or Employer.

Experience operating a tractor is preferred and will be considered an advantage.
