Farm Assistant – Dairy, Beef & Sheep

South Head, North-West Auckland

We are a family-owned farming and contracting business based on the South Head Peninsula of the Kaipara Harbour, in North-West Auckland.

Our farming operation includes a 200-cow, once-a-day dairy farm, along with approximately 600ha of beef and sheep finishing across separate blocks. We also operate Caleb Jackson Contracting, our general agricultural contracting business, as well as a fencing crew during winter.

We are looking for a reliable and capable Farm Assistant to join our team in a varied, hands-on role across our farming operations.

The Role:

Approximately 40 hours per week, 5 days per week.

Fortnightly roster:

• Week 1: Sunday–Friday (Saturday/Sunday off)
• Week 2: Monday–Thursday (Friday/Saturday off)

Hours and start/finish times may be negotiable for the right applicant.

Key Responsibilities:

• Relief milking on our 200-cow, once-a-day dairy farm – previous milking experience is essential
• Working alongside the Farm Manager across all aspects of the farming operation
• Tractor and machinery work
• Fencing and general farm maintenance
• Shifting and handling stock
• Feeding and caring for calves
• Assisting with cattle finishing
• General work across our beef and sheep operations
• Driving farm vehicles, including quad bikes and other farm machinery

About You:

We are looking for someone who is:

• Reliable and punctual
• Hardworking with a good work ethic
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Confident and competent handling stock
• Safety-conscious
• A good communicator
• Happy to tackle a variety of jobs and get stuck in
• Previous dairy milking experience is essential.

Experience in the following would be an advantage:

• Beef finishing
• Sheep
• Fencing
• Tractor and machinery operation
• Farm vehicle and quad bike experience

The role can be tailored to suit different levels of experience, with support and training available for the right person.

Remuneration:

Negotiable based on experience and skills, and aligned with industry standards.

Start Date:

November 2026, although we can be flexible for the right applicant.

Licence Requirements:

• Restricted NZ driver's licence essential
• Full driver's licence preferred
• Class 2 and/or tractor experience an advantage
