2IC Dairy Farm Position – Merino Downs
We are looking for a reliable and capable 2IC to join our team on our dairy farm in Merino Downs, just 20 minutes from Gore and 10 minutes from Tapanui.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is confident working independently and is happy to take responsibility for day-to-day farm tasks.
About the farm:
- 430 cows
- 40 aside herringbone shed
- Currently no cup removers, however shed upgrades are in progress
- Currently a 2-person shed, moving to a 1-person shed once upgrades are complete
- 2-bedroom cottage included
What we're looking for:
- Previous dairy farming experience
- Confident and capable tractor operator
- Able to ride a 2 wheeler motorbike
- Able to work independently and be trusted to manage the farm when left unattended
- Confident with effluent management and able to operate the effluent system
- Reliable, motivated and willing to get stuck in
- Good communication and a positive attitude
- Someone who takes pride in their work and is comfortable taking responsibility
Roster:
- 6/1, 5/2 roster until the end of mating
- Moving to a 5/2 roster from January
