Due to an unexpected change, we need a Senior Farm Assistant to join our team shortly for the balance of 2026/2027 season and going forward.
As a part of our team, you must have a natural love for animals and farming. This is a full-time permanent role.
You must be physically fit, with a clean full driving license, criminal, and drug checks to be considered for the role. A minimum of 2 years NZ dairy work experience is required for this role. We are not AEWV approved and require a NZ citizen or permanent resident.
On our farm, you are expected to:
- Carry out milk harvesting tasks safely, efficiently, and correctly, and assist in training new employees on correct techniques.
- Assist with solving milk quality problems
- Help the farm manager with factors that affect milk quality, hygienic milking, and mastitis control procedures.
- Clean and maintain the milking plant and farm dairy equipment and carry out hygiene inspections
- Move and handle animals safely, identify and diagnose animal health issues, and assist with treatments and prevention in line with farm policy.
- Record and maintain all herd health treatments and events according to on-farm policy or dairy company policy, as advised by the manager.
- Observe, record, and report on cows preparing to calve, and calves’ cows in line with farm policy.
- Be open and willing to learn new skills and to work as part of a flexible team.
It would be advantageous but not essential if you had a partner who was willing to assist with relief milking and / or rearing calves.
A fully renovated 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house, double garaging house is available with the job.
