Shed Manager – 6/2 Roster | 250-Cow Herringbone

Location: Sanson, Manawatū

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Shed Manager to join our team on a well-run, progressive dairy operation.

We are a contract milking business overseeing two neighbouring farms, with a total team of six and approximately 950 cows across the two properties.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of a 30-aside herringbone cowshed, milking approximately 250 cows.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in their work, has strong attention to detail, and enjoys working as part of a team.

Roster: 6 days on / 2 days off

What We’re Looking For

The successful applicant will have:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a herringbone cowshed
• Strong milking and shed management skills
• Good animal health knowledge and attention to detail
• Strong heat detection skills
• Good understanding of herd health and cow welfare
• Sound tractor and farm machinery driving skills
• Good general farm maintenance skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Good communication skills
• Ability to take responsibility and keep the shed running efficiently
