We have a position available for Dairy Farm Assistant role, on our 700-cow farm. The position is based
in Mokoreta area in New Zealand.
This is full-time, permanent position guaranteeing at least 30 hours of work per week, but you will
usually work between 30 to 40 hours per week. The pay rate is $24 per hour.
Dairy Farm Assistant is responsible for working closely with the contract milker/Assistant Manager/Herd Manager to run the farm efficiently. His primary focus is on the day-to-day operations of the farm, aiming to maximize productivity and efficiency. He collaborates with the contract milker and other farm management/staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Milking: Dairy Farm Assistant actively participates in milking operations. Milking 700 cross breed cows.
Equipment handling: Experience with riding 2-wheelers and 4-wheelers is essential.
Calving and Mating: Good experience in these areas is valuable.
Health Management: Identifying and treating mastitis and lameness in cows.
Fencing: Maintenance and repair of fences.
Effluent Irrigation: Managing waste disposal as per instructions.
QUALITIES AND SKILLS:
Ability to communicate effectively to a multi-cultural team and other management.
Applicant should be reliable, enthusiastic, honest, proactive and working. Be physically fit and can-do
attitude.
