We are seeking a reliable and motivated Dairy Farm Assistant to join our team in the Waikato region. This role is ideal for someone who is genuinely interested in dairy farming and committed to developing practical skills in New Zealand’s dairy industry.
The Dairy Farm Assistant supports daily farm operations, including milking, animal health checks, feeding, and general farm maintenance. The successful applicant will work closely with the Farm Manager and wider team to ensure smooth and efficient farm performance throughout the season.
Assisting with daily milking routines
Carrying out animal health checks and treatments
Feeding stock and maintaining feed areas
Supporting calving, mating, and seasonal programmes
Monitoring animal welfare and reporting issues promptly
Assisting with pasture management and irrigation tasks
Operating farm machinery and equipment safely
Maintaining farm hygiene, sheds, and equipment
Recording farm activities as required
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
Genuine interest in dairy farming and willingness to work in a hands‑on environment
Practical experience in dairy farm work (NZ experience preferred but not essential)
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
Good communication skills and reliability
Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Must pass a pre‑employment drug test
Must be willing to work early mornings, weekends, and rostered shifts
