Herd Manager – “Location, Location, Location”

Job Description

Set on 260Ha of beautiful land in the most amazing place in the world (Southland), well we think so, we milk our 750 cows through a modern 50 bail rotary and are located just 15 mins to the hustle and bustle of downtown Invercargill.

Due to a change in personal circumstances, our awesome herd manager is leaving us, and we need to replace them.  This is a fabulous opportunity for the right person to continue growing and developing an amazing career in the dairy industry.  We would prefer that you have good solid experience of around 2 years and are able to hit the ground running, especially with regards to milking, fencing, tractor driving, feed, animal health.  To us the right person will have a good strong work ethic, be a team player and have a willingness to learn.

We have a great team now, and we want someone that is going to fit right in and be prepared to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in.  Another priority is for us to be able to promote from within, so there is an opportunity for the right person to be trained into being our next 2IC or even farm manager.

We will negotiate a competitive salary depending on experience, but we consider ourselves to be fair payers and often pay above market rate.  There is a lovely warm and cosy 4-bedroom house with a log burner for you to live in and we do require a full driver’s licence.  We are a drug free farm.
