You will need to be physically fit, able to speak good English, and have a positive attitude. Experience isn't essential, but would be advantageous. The farm is part of a wider family farming group, with a proven record of staff progression. We will encourage off-farm learning for the right person. The roster will be 8/3 7/3 for the majority of the season, with a different roster set up for calving. You must be able to drive a 2 wheel motorbike.
You will be working alongside a contract milker, 2IC and another farm assistant. This season we will be milking approximately 870 Friesian cross cows through a modern 60 bale rotary cowshed. The cows have Allflex collars, the shed has protrack, ACR's, and auto teat spray making for an efficient 1-man milking operation through the course of the season.
The farm is well appointed, with 3 main laneways reaching out from a centrally located cowshed. The farm is roughly half flats, ranging up into rolling downs. The farm is located 2 minutes from the Culverden township where there is an Area School, well-supported Rugby, Netball and Squash clubs, and an active Young Farmers club. The tourist town of Hanmer Springs is a 25 minute drive away, and Amberley is 40 minutes drive.
Accommodation is a three bedroom farm cottage. It has a heat pump, fire place. The bathroom and laundry have been newly renovated. This house is fully furnished.
