Team Leader - Poultry Farm

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Team Leader to support the daily operation of our poultry farm operation. This is an entry-level leadership role, ideal for someone ready to step into a people-leading position while remaining actively involved in farm operations.

Reporting to the Farm Manager, you will act as second-in-charge on site, providing leadership, operational oversight, and on-call support to ensure high standards of animal welfare, safety, and productivity are maintained.

About the Role

In this role, you will:

• Support the Farm Manager with the day-to-day running of the farm

• Lead and supervise a team of approximately 8–10 staff

• Oversee daily shed operations and ensure staff are prepared and supported

• Monitor flock health, production, and farm hygiene

• Ensure compliance with animal welfare, biosecurity, and health & safety requirements

• Participate in an on-call roster and respond to farm alarms when required

• Complete basic administration including timesheets, KPI data, and compliance reporting

• Step up to run the farm in the Farm Manager’s absence, including weekend leadership cover

This is a predominantly hands-on role, with approximately 10–15% administration.

• Has good mechanical and computer aptitude

• Communicates clearly and works well as part of a team

• Is committed to animal welfare, safety, and developing others

Other Important Information

• This role includes on-call responsibilities; you must live within approximately 20 minutes of the farm

• Weekend work is required as part of a shared leadership roster

• Flexibility and a willingness to learn are essential
