Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Dairy Farm Assistant to join our team.

Working on a 600-cow farm operating a split-calving system, on an 11 days on / 3 days off roster.

The role involves all aspects of day-to-day dairy farming including milking, calving and calf care, animal health, feeding, herd management, fencing and operating tractors and farm machinery.

Our operation has a strong focus on animal health and welfare, nutrition and attention to detail.

We are looking for someone with:

  • At least 3 years' New Zealand dairy farming experience
  • Strong milking and calving experience
  • Good knowledge of animal health and welfare
  • Experience with feeding and herd management
  • Confidence operating tractors and farm machinery
  • Good observation and communication skills
  • A reliable attitude and willingness to learn and develop

About Kaipaki Dairies Limited
The farm is centrally located to Hamilton, Cambridge and Te Awamutu. All flat 150 ha effective. Fully developed. Utilizing pasture and other feed inputs to achieve 700 kgs ms / cow. Animal management and feeding are a large part of the daily routine so this job is for those who are interested in dairy cattle.Tractor / diet mixing and delivery are also a large component of the work. We are looking for applicants that have a high regard for animal welfare and comfort and a high standard of workmanship and attention to detail. No previous experience is necessary as training will be given on farm.
