Due injury, we are seeking a fixed term farm manager or experienced 2IC for our 700 cow farm starting ASAP. We are located 30 minutes from Greymouth and 30 minutes from Reefton. Family friendly farm with school buses to the gate and excellent hunting in the area.

We milk through a 50 bail rotary with ACR’s, protrack drafting and Allflex collars and aimer pasture management. The farm is 430 Ha including the run-off where we graze young-stock and cut silage. The majority of the farm is flat river terraces with some humps and hollows. The farm has 70 Ha of Kline as well as a pivot irrigator. This is a system 2-3 self contained farm where all feed is grown on farm.
We are looking for someone physically fit who has experience running a farm of this size who can step up and take charge of the day to day operations of the farm
The role will involve
Milk harvesting
Fencing
Tractor work including feeding out and spreading fertilizer
Picking up calves
Treating cows
Running effluent
calving cows
managing staff
Other general farm duties
We will be running a 6-2 roster, with an average of 55 hours a week expected over calving
We pay hourly and would be starting at $35 an hour, increasing with experience
We are a drug free workplace/property so applicants would need to be willing to have a pre-employment drug test as well as submit to random drug testing. Applications also need to hold a current NZ drivers licence. We are not accredited employers so applications would need to be eligible to work in New Zealand and currently residing in the country.
