Assistant Manager breeding and finishing pig farm

Job Description

Location: Lepperton, Taranaki

We are looking for a motivated and reliable Assistant Farm Manager to join our client's modern breeding and finishing pig farm in Lepperton, Taranaki.

Working alongside the Farm Manager, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the farm, helping to ensure high standards of animal welfare, productivity, and farm performance.

About the Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the daily management of breeding and finishing pigs.
  • Monitoring animal health, welfare, and performance.
  • Feeding, husbandry, and stock handling.
  • Supporting farrowing, weaning, and breeding programmes.
  • Maintaining accurate farm records.
  • Assisting with staff supervision and training when required.
  • Operating and maintaining farm equipment and facilities.
  • Following biosecurity, health and safety, and animal welfare standards.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in pig farming or another intensive livestock farming system (such as poultry, dairy support, calf rearing, or similar).
  • A strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Good stockmanship and a genuine commitment to animal welfare.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • A current driver's licence (preferred).
  • Willing to work rostered weekends and Public Holidays

Previous leadership or supervisory experience is an advantage but not essential.
