We are seeking a superstar Farm Assistant to join our team this season who is passionate about the dairy industry, keen to learn & progress and is looking for a mentor to take them to the next level in their farming career. Based 8 mins from Westport 200 ha, milking 380 cows through a 30-bale herringbone, ACR's well set up farm., and a 100 ha. Support block.
You will assist with daily operational tasks as directed, which will include but are not limited to:
Milking: Assists in efficient and hygienic milking routine
Animal Health: Assists with identifying, treating and reporting of stock health issues Nutrition: Assists with feeding, handling and moving stock
People: Ability to work in a team Health and safety of people and animals are a priority. The successful applicant must comply with farm and safety policies.
Milk Harvesting - Twice a day until December. 10/7 till end of March after that once a day. (depends on grass available).
Cleaning and maintaining Milking Shed, Break Fencing, Weed control and General farm maintenance Assist in calf rearing.
You must: Be honest, reliable, hardworking and punctual, Be able to work in a team, Have initiative and willing to learn, Be able to pass a Drug Test and Criminal Background Check No experience and qualification needed but will be a plus, training will be provided for the right person.
