Job Description – Farm Assistant

Location: Mamaku, New Zealand

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Farm Assistant to join our dairy farming team. You will work alongside a supportive team on a well-managed 1,000-cow dairy farm with 2 milking sheds. The farm operates once-a-day (OAD) milking throughout calving and remains fully OAD after Christmas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Milking cows and maintaining high milk quality standards
  • Monitoring animal health and reporting any concerns
  • Assisting with calving and calf rearing during the season
  • Moving stock safely and efficiently
  • Feeding and caring for livestock
  • Operating farm vehicles and equipment safely (where appropriate)
  • Carrying out general farm maintenance, including fencing, weed control, and shed cleaning
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work environment
  • Following health and safety procedures at all times
  • Working effectively as part of a team and supporting daily farm operations

Skills & Experience

  • Previous dairy farming experience is essential
  • Good understanding of dairy farm operations
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
