We are searching for an enthusiastic and motivated farm assistant to join our team of four until February 2027 on our 800 cow dairy farm located on the Hinds town boundary.

Applicants must be living in New Zealand now to apply for this job and be either a NZ citizen or have a residency visas.  Preferably applicants would have previous experience on New Zealand dairy farms, with a can do attitude.

Duties would depend on your experience but would be focused primarily on milking, cleaning the shed and yard, treating mastitis and moving break fences for stock.

Basic farm information

  • 60 Bail Rotary with ACR’s, auto trat sprayer and automated plant wash.
  • Single herd grazing.
  • Allflex collars.
  • Centre pivot irrigation with a handful of sprinklers and rotorainer runs.

Preferred start date is 10 October 2026.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Milking cows.
  • Following milk quality and shed hygiene protocols.
  • Animal health monitoring, treating and recording.
  • Assisting with calving, calf rearing, and mating.
  • Assisting with daily feed allocation.
  • 2-Wheel motorbike operation.
  • Fencing and weed control.
  • Health and Safety reporting.
  • Shifting rotorainers and irrigation sprinklers.

We are looking for an individual who meets following criteria:

  • Physically fit and healthy.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience.
  • Ability to work both within a team or autonomously.
  • Honest.
  • Reliable and punctual. 
  • Full, clean driving license.
  • Drug free with no criminal convictions.
  • Clean and tidy.

About Riverbank Farm

810 Cows  |  500kgMS/cow  |  Automated 60 bail rotary  |  228ha (effective)  |  Accommodation on farm

Dairy farm located on the Hinds township boundary, spring calving to peak milk 820 cows in a system 3 feed programme producing 500kgMS per cow. 

Property run by four staff members on a 5 days on; 2 days off rotating roster plus seasonal calf rearers.

The property is run in conjunction with an owned grazing block nearby where replacement heifers graze and cows winter.
