Join Pye Group as a Drystock Assistant and help raise the next generation of our dairy herd.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll work alongside experienced people caring for replacement stock and young stock across our South Canterbury farming operations. Every day brings something different, from monitoring animal health and feeding stock to assisting with animal treatments and general farm work.

Working closely with our Young Stock Manager and wider farming team, you’ll play an important role in ensuring our livestock are healthy, well cared for and developing to their full potential.
No two days are the same. You could be monitoring stock health, feeding out, moving animals, assisting with weighing or vaccinations, repairing fences, irrigation or helping with seasonal farm activities.
Your key responsibilities will include:
· Monitoring the health, wellbeing and development of heifers, replacement stock and young stock
· Feeding out and break fencing to ensure stock have consistent access to quality feed and water
· Assisting with weighing, drenching, vaccinations and other animal health treatments
· Supporting stock movements and yard work
· Maintaining accurate animal records and using farm management systems
· Completing general farm duties including fencing, irrigation shifts and basic farm maintenance
· Operating machinery and equipment safely and carrying out routine maintenance
· Following health and safety procedures and using digital farm tools and applications
You’ll enjoy this role if you:
· Have practical livestock experience (dairy support or drystock experience is preferred but not essential)
· Care about animal health and welfare
· Are reliable, hardworking and take pride in doing a quality job
· Have a positive attitude and enjoy working as part of a team
· Are happy working outdoors in all weather conditions
· Have good communication skills and are willing to learn
· Understand the importance of health and safety on farm
