We are seeking an experienced Beef Farm Manager (2+ years’ experience) to join a well-established beef production business in the Morven area.

Our client operates a beef production business focused on raising young stock for meat production and is seeking an experienced and motivated Beef Farm Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of the farm.

The successful applicant will be responsible for managing young beef cattle from rearing through to finishing and sale for meat production, while maintaining high standards of animal health, animal welfare, pasture management, and farm performance.

About the Role

The Beef Farm Manager will be responsible for the effective operation of the farm, ensuring livestock are well managed and production targets are achieved. This role requires practical beef farming knowledge, strong livestock management skills, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage daily beef farm operations, including stock handling, feeding, and livestock care
• Oversee the management of young cattle from rearing through to finishing for meat production
• Monitor animal health, growth rates, and livestock condition
• Carry out animal health programmes, including vaccinations, treatments, and veterinary requirements
• Manage grazing plans, pasture utilisation, and stock movements
• Maintain accurate livestock records and farm production information
• Monitor feed requirements and seasonal farming activities
• Operate and maintain farm machinery, vehicles, and equipment
• Maintain farm facilities, including fencing, yards, and stock handling areas
• Ensure compliance with health and safety, animal welfare, and environmental requirements
• Identify and resolve farm management issues in a timely manner

Skills and Experience Required:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in beef cattle farming and livestock management
• Proven experience managing young stock and beef production systems
• Sound knowledge of animal health, handling, and welfare practices
• Understanding of pasture-based farming systems
• Ability to monitor livestock performance and make informed management decisions
• Good organisational and record-keeping skills
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility for farm operations
• Commitment to safe, efficient, and sustainable farming practices

Weekly hours are a minimum of 30, with an average of 40 and a maximum of 55.

Due to the nature of farming operations, working hours may vary depending on seasonal requirements, weather conditions, livestock needs, and other operational factors. Any hours worked beyond the agreed maximum in a fortnightly pay period will be paid at the agreed overtime rate.

Pay Rate: $35.00 per hour.

Candidates must have previous relevant farming experience and be able to provide suitable work references.
