We are looking for a 2IC who has the experience to support the farm manager. You will be expected to be able to run the farm on the days off for the manager.

Ideally you are someone that wishes to make a career in the industry. There are opportunities to carry out training while on the farm and potentially opportunities on other farms in the future.
The farm is well set up and a system 2/3 farm with in-shed feeding. Typically milking switches to OAD around Xmas. The current staff are competent and hard working so we are looking for someone to slot into the team. Relief staff are used to cover days off.
The farm is situated 3.5 km from the Whakamaru village. It is a family owned Trust farm.
The contour ranges from flat to steep with approximately 50% of the farm rolling to steep.
It is a system 3 farm. Around 200t of PKE is imported. Approx 150t of maize silage has been purchased the last 2 seasons. Summer and winter crops have been grown on farm. 300 cows are wintered off.
Farm infrastructure is good. The milking shed is a 40-aside herringbone.
Soil fertility levels are good with regular soil testing and fertiliser applications as per a recommendation form a CNA. Around 130kg N/ha/year is applied
