We are looking for a dedicated and reliable calf rearer to join our team for the 2026 season.
This is a hands on role where you will play a part in giving our calves the best possible start. You will be responsible for ensuring excellent animal welfare, maintaining high hygiene standards and raising healthy, thriving calves.
The farm is situated between Dunsandel and Hororata, milking 880 cows.
We will be rearing around 225 replacement heifer calves, 60 beefies as well as bobby calves.
This role will be from the end of July until the start of October.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Training calves on feeders
- Tubing newbies as they come into the shed
- Feeding young calves
- Monitoring calf health and identifying issues early
- Cleaning pens, feeding equipment and work areas
- Assisting with other duties as required
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Previous calf rearing experience in preferred but not essential
- A genuine passion for animal welfare
- Good attention to detail and strong hygiene standards
- Reliable, honest and able to work independently
- Physically fit and able to lift 25kg bags
- Full drivers license preferred
- Must be legally entitled to work in NZ
