An exciting opportunity has become available to join Falcon Trust Partnership as a Herd Manager / Second-in-Charge (2IC) on one of our progressive 600-cow dairy farms in Riversdale.
This position has become available as our current Herd Manager is finishing up due to health reasons. We thank them for their contribution to the farm and are now looking for the right person to join our team and continue building on the high standards already established.

About the Farm
- 600-cow dairy operation
- 40 ASHB dairy shed
- In-shed feeding system
- Wintering completed off-farm
- Well-maintained infrastructure and machinery
- Supportive management team with clear systems and expectations
The Role
Working alongside the Farm Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the farm while helping to maintain high standards of animal welfare, milk quality, pasture management and farm presentation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Herd management and animal husbandry
- Milking and maintaining excellent milk quality standards
- Animal health, mating and calving management
- Pasture and feed allocation
- Accurate record keeping
- Safe operation and maintenance of farm machinery
- Assisting with staff leadership and training
- Maintaining high health and safety standards
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is:
- Honest, reliable and trustworthy
- Passionate about dairy farming with excellent stockmanship
- Motivated and keen to continue learning and developing
- A strong team player with a positive attitude
- Able to work independently and take ownership of their responsibilities
- Well organised with good attention to detail
- Experienced in dairy farming at Herd Manager level or an experienced Assistant Manager ready to step into a 2IC role
- Holder of a current New Zealand driver's licence (preferred)
Roster
We recognise the importance of work-life balance and operate:
- 6 days on / 1 day off through calving
- 8 days on / 2 days off / 8 days on / 3 days off for the remainder of the season
