Permanent senior Farm Assistant

A great mid-season opportunity has opened up for a motivated, experienced Senior Farm Assistant to join our team on our South Waikato dairy farm. 

This role suits someone with a great attitude who can confidently assist with day-to-day farm operations and work well alongside the Operations Manager/Equity Owner and our 2IC and relief staff.

About the Role:

As a Farm Assistant, you will be involved in a wide range of daily farm tasks, including:

• Milking in a 40-aside herringbone shed with ACR, CowManager, and System 5 feed pad

• Assisting with animal health, cow treatments, and general stock care

• Feed mixing and feeding out

• Effluent application using RainWave and cannon systems

• Supporting calving operations during Spring and Autumn

• General farm and shed maintenance to keep infrastructure and equipment in good condition

We are a split-calving farm with an autumn-heavy focus, and animal welfare is a top priority — our cows are well cared for Holstein Friesians.

• Centrally located — 45–60 minutes to Hamilton, Tauranga, Rotorua, Taupō, and Te Awamutu

• Excellent option for families, with a rural primary school just 2 minutes away and secondary schools in nearby towns

About You:

• Positive attitude and willingness to learn

• Dairy farming experience required

• Able to follow instructions and work well as part of a team as well as working alone when required

• Reliable, practical, and takes pride in their work

• Comfortable with a variety of farming tasks
