We are looking for a honest and reliable person to join our team of 3. We are milking 660 cows on a 40 aside herringbone shed. Roster will be single rotation, 6 on 2 off. The farm is located in Dunsandel area, 15 minutes to Rolleston. Great location as it is on the thriving and fastest growing district of New Zealand, Selwyn District.
You must be willing to be trained in all aspects of dairy farming. You must pass criminal and drug checks and be physically fit to be considered for the role. You must also have a full clean driving license.
As a Farm Assistant, you are expected to work alongside the Farm Manager and other staff in:
- milk harvesting
- maintaining the cleanliness of the cow shed
- operating and maintenance of effluent system
- monitoring pasture, crop, and supplement management
- monitoring stock feed
- diagnosing animal ailments and conducting treatments
- assisting in the erection and maintenance of fencing.
- Can drive farm tractor, move rotorainers or be willing to be trained.
A good attitude and understanding of the day to day work on the farm is a must.
